Ok, I broke the blog…

September 28th, 2007

I updated to a new version of Wordpress and one of my plugins doesn’t seem to be compatible with this new version. Also, the template I was using broke too. Mumble… I’ll get it fixed as soon as I can.

College Courses by Rock Bands

September 5th, 2007

John and I were just remembering a fun game that we and some other old college buddies played one evening over Big Macs and fries back when we were at UofA.

Come up with clever college course titles taught by popular rock (or any style) bands.

Some obvious examples:

  • Etymology — The Beetles
  • The History of the Eastern Seaboard — Boston
  • Gtatitude and Mortality — The Grateful Dead
  • US Politics (1960s) — The Dead Kennedys (thanks John!)

Ok, now it’s your turn! Impress me! (that shouldn’t be too hard)

We’re alive, really!

I haven’t posted anything for what seems like forever. Everyone’s fine and growing like fast-growing-things. And rejoice, I’ make the flash movie not play automatically so my blog shouldn’t be quite as annoying as it used to be.

We had a great Christmas! Need I say anything more?

My Baby Boy and Me

December 15th, 2006

It’s 3 AM, they’re all asleep,
And no one’s here to see
As we rock slowly back and forth,
My baby boy & me.

His little head is feather light
Tucked up against my chin.
I hold his tiny hand in mine
And stroke his baby chin.

The house about us creaks and groans,
The clock hands creep around.
He snuggles closer to me still
And makes his baby sounds.

I love these quiet hours so much
And cherish every one.
Store memories up inside my heart
For lonely nights to come.

All too soon he’ll be grown up,
His need for Mommy gone.
But until then I still have time
For kisses and for song.

Time for quiet hours like this
With him cuddled in my arms,
Where I wish he’d always stay,
Protected, safe and warm.

And yet I know the day will come
When this tiny little hand
Will be much bigger than my own
He’ll grow to be a man.

But until then he’s mine to love,
With no one here to see
As we rock slowly back and forth,
My baby boy and me.

The sweet smell of a warm baby head and the feel of his soft neck first thing in the morning.

Need I say more?

home sweet home

December 8th, 2006

been home for a bit over 24 hours now and it’s good to be here. *thumbs up* things with Alex and Nathan are going well - Alex seems to sorta “tolerate” our new addition with a little interest - he’s nowhere near hostile, just “stand-offish”. I think he’s nervous about someone else cutting into his turf, LOL.

Nathan is doing just what he should - pooping, peeing and eating and sleeping. and he’s doing a very good job of it, too! Haha ~ truly, he *IS* eating really well. not sure if he gained his weight back yet that he lost at the hospital.

speaking of weight gain and loss - I’ve lost half my pregnancy weight so far - hoping the 2nd half is as easy as the 1st half has been!
Nathan is getting up - gotta change a dipe and feed this kid.

Bach’n it…

December 6th, 2006

Alex and are bach’n it till Jen gets home from the hospital. (Ok, grandparents on both sides are helping out more than I can say.) We’re pretty certain they will spring her on Thursday. Jen’s healing up wonderfully from the surgery. She was up and out of bet barely 8 hours afterward. They took out all her plumbing (IV, etc.) within 24 hours.

Nathan is doing great, he start nursing in earnest night before last and poor Jen has been busy every 3-4 hours since then.

Keep checking he photo gallery for new pictures. I’ve been updating it just about every evening.

Jen’s mom will be taking her turn hanging out with Alex today and I’m heading back to work this afternoon for a 1/2 day to try and put out all the fires that have popped up while I’ve been gone. That’s the problem with a small company, when you leave, there is nobody else who can do your job. I guess I shouldn’t complain though, it’s great job security!
